Just had a recall letter from Mercedes - I’ve used the iPhone text recognition to upload it below.

Anyone else get one ? Bit concerned about how much will be involved to replace the passenger airbag - surely the whole dashboard will have to come out and I can predict rattles…..

At Mercedes-Benz, we continuously monitor the performance of our cars and pay particular attention to any issues that
could have an impact on your safety. Despite careful quality control during production, a technical problem has been
Identified which we would like to resolve immediately.
Our supplier TK Holdings Inc. (Takata) has informed Mercedes-Benz AG that the front passenger's airbag may not match
the current factory specification. As a result, certain climatic conditions can lead to a chemical change of the propellant in
the gas generator of certain Takata airbags. Should this oscur, in an accident resulting in airbag deployment, this change
may cause the gas generator to burst due to increased pressure. In this circumstance, the airbag would not offer any
restraint effect and there would be an increased risk of injury for the front passenger, and for the vehicle occupants due to
separating gas generator components.
The DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) records show that you are the last known keeper of the above car, which
we believe could be affected by this issue. It is theretore necessary to replace the front passenger's airbag on your car as a
precautionary measure. This work could take up to 3 hours to complete and will be carried out free of charge.
Please contact your nearest or most convenient Mercedes-Benz Retailer quoting reference number SRPC1928. If you are
unsure where this is, you can use our Retailer Locator on www.mercedes-benz.co.uk. Your chosen Retailer will then place
an order for the required part specific to your car, which will arrive with them within 2-3 weeks. Your Retailer will then
arrange for the necessary work to be carried out on your car with minimal inconvenience to you. While your car is with us,
we will take the opportunity to ensure that any additional technical upgrades are completed.
This Safety Recall is being monitored by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) which is part of the Department
for Transport, and is in line with the Code of Practice on Safety Defects in the UK. More information can be found on the
DVSA website: www.gov.uk/avsa.
We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this action may cause. It you have any outstanding queries
after contacting your chosen Mercedes-Benz Retailer, please feel free to email our Customer Support team at
cs.uk.recall@cac.mercedes-benz.com.
Yours faithfully

No direct experience on Mercedes, but the Takata airbag recall has affected numerous makes.
Mrs Scrump’s Nissan had the airbags replaced under recall, no issues.

If it takes up to 3 hours then I doubt it is very involved in dismantling the dashboard.

I never got a letter. Booked car in for a service at the stealers and it came up as outstanding recall. It’s being done on Monday

I’ll book mine in but appreciate any feedback on the process in the meantime.

Had our recall over a year back. Taken in, left for day, and took it home.

My C63 is off for the replacement part soon. Car is back within it hours and it’s doesn’t seem too complex if honest. May even fix the odd rattle and squeak from the dash too.

Dropped ours off at 8 ish, got call to pick up about 12 ish.

So had the car approx. 4 hours.

Seems fine, i think the passenger end of dash need to come forward & up, not out completely.
