Hi merc forums, I've had a 911 C2 for a number of years (5) and I fancy a change - needing to scratch that V8 itch.

With approx £25k budget, can I get a reasonably happy C63? Coupe would be preferred, but sedan/wagon also a possibility.

Is the performance Pack a must, would I miss the LSD in mostly daily use? Is Birds an option?

Who are the main sources for rreplacement / upgrade parts for those? How is parts availability within MB themselves?

cheers,
J

I purchased a 2012 C63 a few years ago, under 40k miles for that money.

Its wonderful. Just get one. I know people talk about quaife diffs and the like, but you can sort that out later if it doesn't have it.

Just get it brought. smile

Just sold my 2013 43k 6.2 after 12,000 miles / 1 year.

I would not consider buying it again... that should say something.

I thought I saw another one whilst driving mine and it was a C220d.

Get an M2 or something where they actually tried to make it look different for the money, I know it's all about the engine but still. and it does feel old...

mine started rattling on start up badly and it was over serviced through out it's life!

But yes, sounds amazing.

I moved into a C63 from an E46 M3.

Compared to the E46:
Less connection to the road
Lesser handling car (front end heavy, slight understeer)
Insane exhaust note
Huge power
Very refined car

I like it, just don't think of it as a BMW and instead more of a German muscle car and you'll be alright. Can't be throwing it into corners.

The only thing I would ever replace it with would be of supercar variety.

What if you make it ala Black series or change suspension things and poly bushings and so on to get a more street racer, not buy looks but hardness/feel, I bet it can be made more sporty then it came out the factory, that is if you want that.
