last owner since 2017, so just wondering if it’s anyone on here as they clearly loved the car, wondering if they are a member on here, have also asked on the a class forum.

debating getting this, currently got a g30 520d but as mileage has gone down.I can look at something a bit more fun again!

Keep reading about the pre facelift gearbox being not very good, how true is this? This is a very high spec pre, is it worth getting a lower spec post fl?

Car before the 520d was a c43, lovely car, but wasn’t “fun” hoping the a45 would be best of both words, also had a 2012 c63 amg, which I sold In lockdown to the trade for 16k! Would of been worth mid 20s now, I try not to think about that decision lol!

have been looking at getting another one but not sure I could bring myself to pay more for one than I paid 2 years ago!

so the a45 is leading the way at the moment, especially as the c is pretty dated now, even the facelift, mine didn’t even have dab!

Car has full merc history, due a “b” service in October but will be fully serviced by the ford franchise before sale, tried to bargain them talking the cost of the b service off the price to keep it full merc, but as it’s coming in at £900 they wouldn’t, best they could do was knock a few 100 off as their cost to service, not sure how I feel about it, would be nice to be full merc, but a full “b” service for “free” before sale is appealing too..

Personal opinion... These are an acquired taste. Very quick for sure (engine is a cracker), but the ride and interior quality let it down. Exterior design and space are more subjective, but they are very small inside also.

You're right about the W204: values have gone crazy, but there are other options to try.

Whilst the W204 is now a cult car, it was never given the most powerful version of the M156 6.2 V8, even in 507 guise.

Why not try the slightly bigger W212 E63 instead? Same size as your 520d, so no space compromise. The 2010/11 cars got the final evolution of the M156 with most of the kinks ironed out and crucially, the full fat 518Bhp in all its glory. It's a monster of an engine. Truly up there with Mezgers and Bussos. Basically a wet sump SLS engine.

For your budget, you could also get into a Biturbo, but in my option, the M157s just aren't nearly as special. Either way, the MMI can be modded to give you android/car play etc.

Horses for courses. I briefly returned to a hot hatch after my last E63S and now I regret it. If you do go for the A45, I'd just take the car as is and get it serviced by a good indy. Not sure I'd want a Ford tech near it!
