Vito battery replacement
Discussion
2010 V6 Vito auto.
Today we were getting warnings about low battery volts (there is no "ign" Warning light) so it seems the new battery isn't charging as the voltage doesnt change when you rev it, but stays at 11.5 v.
We've heard some tale about a reset being required to tell the charging system that a new battery has been fitted.
Can anyone confirm ?

It turns this is a well known fault on V6 AUTOs.
Annoyingly on autos again there is no "ignition" warning light to give an early indication of trouble. Only once the battery is really low, does a warning of "low battery volts" flash up, at which point electrical stuff starts cutting out, followed by the engine cutting out. Luckily this happened near home.
The cable between the alternator and fusebox burns out under the engine, where there is some sort of connector.
