Do you want quiet tyres for a W208 CLK 320 ?
Discussion
With the quiet 3.2 V6 petrol engine, tyre noise can be very intrusive.
OEM tyres on mine were Pirelli (full title upstairs). They created dreadful noise, in fact measured on a coarse road surface at 70 mph, the interior noise was much louder than in a Vauxhall Cavalier !
The things took ages to wear out (about 40,000 miles), so I should really have ditched them sooner.
Next went for the lowest noise rated tyres, Dunlop Sport Maxx (68db).
Much quieter, so had a second set of those.
Recently changed to Michelin Primacy 4.
The same noise rating (externally measured I think) as the Dunlops, but in the cabin they are noticeably even quieter than the Dunlops.
At last the car is a real joy to travel in.
Remarkable how much difference there is between different tyres. Why Mercedes fitted such a poor choice originally, is most peculiar. Maybe all road surfaces in Germany are silky smooth, in which case it would not matter.
Hope that might be helpful to some of you.
