Spring 2019 I photographed this one. Unfortunately my camera failed on me and I had to throw it away. Sorry for the poor quality.

A few months before I drove this minter 560 SEC I had the opportunity to spent a day with a 6 litre Jaguar XJS. IMO one of the coolest looking 80s cars. But in driving not so much. This Merc however just nailed it in every possible way. What a car!

In looks this might be your Cocaine White Special and you would surely look away. But make no mistake: the 560 smoothness is addictive. The autobox is miles ahead of the Jag, the big V8 more refined and the seating position just spot on.

Yes, it's big and heavy but you will adapt. Yes, it is seriously swift but cars will get out of your way. There's just nothing that will dissapoint. Really...

A Bruno Sacco masterpiece this is. At the time this gem boasted a 20k euro pricetag. No brainer!

Nuff space for adults. Oh yes. If I had a garage I'd seriously consider a 560 SEC, an R107 500 SL and a 450 SLC. Das Haus selection done!

When you say 'snapped this one' do you mean photographed or bought?

Regardless, my experience was the opposite. I bought a 560 SEC and didn't much enjoy it, and I replaced it with a 12 cylinder Jaguar XJR-S.

I found the SEC to be a bit dull and ordinary and, despite being a Merc fan, couldn't wait to get something else.

Horses for courses wink I have a rather heavy right foot and the 560 delivered as expected.
The 6 litre though felt like a boat and the nose pointed at the skies everytime I stepped on it.
