I am looking to trade up from the E500, and a W221 S500 seems to tick all my boxes bar one - Isofix. Possibly.

I know that a lot of cars have labels or buttons on the seat upholstery to show they have Isofix, but on the pictures I can see on Autotrader I haven't found any S500s with this yet.

My initial thought was that the electrically-adjustable rear seats made it an impossibility however I have spotted those Isofix label buttons in a 2008 S63 which also had the adjustable rear seats (sadly, out of my price range! biggrin )

Can anyone shed any light on whether Isofix was standard across the range (hence no labels) or if it was a special order that a lot of S500 purchasers ("Director's chauffeur car" and "executive limo service" types?) simply didn't need? Does anyone here have a W221 with Isofix and no labels?

(I realise Isofix isn't the only way to safely mount a child seat, unfortunately I have a back injury that means I wouldn't be able to get into the back to tension the seat belt with the correct amount of knee-shoving, plus I need the rotating seat base)

i would say almost certainly - nearly all cars after 06 has isofix in the rear as standard from what a quick search on google says. i cant see why an S class wouldnt - im actually looking at W221 S63's and some have mentioned isofix int he ad, some havent.

Get the reg of the cars your looking at and someone on the likes of MBClubUK will get you the build sheet of the car where it should be listed, for your piece of mind.

It didn’t become mandatory until around 2012 (and I think that was only on newly introduced models). There was someone on one of the UK Merc forums recently with an E Class I think from 2009 that he was surprised didn’t have Isofix.

For C and E Class MB does have retrofit mounts - don’t know if same for S.

W221 does have isofix.

Had a 2006 S320 L which had it.

If using the isofix, you cannot use the electric seat adjustment as the isofix mounts are static for obvious reasons. Seat has to be all the way back and upright.

Apart from that your little one will travel in supreme comfort.
