Hi I have got a SRS warning come up on dash of a 2006 2.1 cdi estate.

This happened after I had dropped the rear seats to transport some furniture, positioned seats when finished and all Ok until a few days later then warning light came up.

Checked locking safety levers were fully and easy to go into locking position so I am now lost as to why the warning light is on and why it came on some days later after seats had been put back into proper position.

Any advice would be great, thank you in advance.

code read is the only way to go. Usually 'clock spring' in the steering wheel, or the connector on the bottom of the drivers seat has gone down. But only usually.

yep code read reset.
happened to me years ago when I forgot to re-connect the front passenger seat after removing it (easy pack option) when I wanted to transport a sofa.

Hi again,
Can you give me a bit more info on the clock spring and can it be sorted DIY? And also where about under the drivers seat should I be looking. Thank you.

I'm not 100% up to speed with Merc, so please take anything I mention with a pinch of salt.
The drivers seat connection is usually some kind of friction fit between the moving drivers seat, and the static wiring loom on the car. If you remove the rivers seat (usually 4 bolts, no more), you'll see a tail of wire going into the drivers seat. Have a good look in those connections.
Drivers airbag is more complex.
You'll need to remove the drivers airbag, and then the steering wheel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RW2cwqmVFQI The clock cable (spiral cable, clock spring etc) is usually in a little box immediately behind the steering wheel. It is unrepairable in my experience, and will need a new cable.

Don't waste your time guessing, get the codes read, see if they clear - more often than not they do. If they don't clear then go from there. Some Mercedes also have recalls for the airbag.

Passenger seat occupancy sensor also plays up.

Hi again, sorted SRS problem without getting the code read. I just started with pulling the seat belt fully out and then yanked it a couple of times. Repeated this on each one untile the SRS light went off, been fine since. It turned out to be the front passenger seat belt.

Please note: every time you check a seat belt, you have to turn engine on for it to clear all other test lights on dash, and if light is still on turn of car engine and pick another seat belt, repeat untile you get the light to clear.

I know its not a code reader way, but it saved me the cost of getting it read and possibly extra charges by garage/ dealer.

Worth a try before spending money biglaugh.
