2016 G63 AMG - Thoughts?
Discussion
What’s the general consensus on the G63? Specifically a W463 with the 5.5 M157 from around 2016-2018.
I gather petrol will obviously be the biggest expense but how is it for general maintenance and upkeep?
Thoughts on this particular example? - https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12415628

Many people on this forum run the 5.5 Bi T engine in various models and its a great lump... put that in a G Class and I guess its interesting.. I wanted a G63 when I was looking to change earlier this year... but...for the extra ££ I didnt go with one as I didnt think it was worth it, so chose the C292 GLE63s Coupe instead which is rare - of course its personal preference.
My car eats tyres and brakes (mixed driving) and they're known for this, A set of 22" tyres with the 325/40/22 rears cost £1100 and just rear pads is £310 fitted, don't know fronts yet....
These AMG's also like oil every 700-1000 miles... If you run an expensive car you swallow the expensive bills too!

Thanks for the reply. A friend is looking at the example above, he’s been running a fairly thirsty X5M for a few years so is familiar with high bills.
I figured things like discs and pads wouldn’t be cheap. Remember looking at the W204 C63 PP cars before I bought an ISF a few years ago and owners were discussing just how steep replacement bits were.
