Had my eye on this for a while, I love it. Be very interested in the official price.

Yeah I had high hopes and I am glad they look to be met.
One of the videos mentioned 100k starting for the SL55.
No idea what sort of discounts would be available.

Could be the modern day CLK with the seating arrangements. Love one.

Good looking car for sure. I'm going to be interested to discover whether they've made it 'sporty' - I have a current (well, now just out of date) SL and what I like about it is its 'GT' ability to cover long distances in great comfort. I don't want to be bounced and jiggled about in the name of pointless faster Ring times.

Very pleased to see that these are V8, having read (I forget where, Car Magazine I think) that these would all be 4 cylinder except the AMG versions which would be V6. Gives hope that the 'lesser' models (like mine) will still be V6.

Going to be interesting to see what happens with the pricing. Only AMG out initially, which are £100K cars I think? But the idea was (apparently) for this to replace the old SL and the SLC/SLK, in which case 'base' versions are going to need to be a lot cheaper. That said, in the previous model, I think the AMG cars were £120K and the SL400 started at circa £60K, so maybe the 'base' versions of these will be £50K.

Shame about the soft top. I appreciate why (better packaging - allows for rear seats), and I know modern soft tops are very quiet, but the coupe/convertible aspect of the SL was always such a strong point. I wonder how much space there actually is in those back seats?

Sorry to disappoint you hope you are sitting down official list prices.
SL55 list price £150k
SL63 list price £171k
SL43 price not yet released but based on the above expect circa £110 -120k and that is for a 4 cylinder 2ltr engine same as in the AMG45 with 0-62 in 4.9 sec. Slower than a AMG 45

I had a GTC Roadster that I sold when the new SL was muted and placed a deposit on the new SL (R232) which I will now cancel should have kept the GTC.

I thought it was April 1st until I realised Merc UK is serious. No thanks.

I'm still convinced they made a mistake and will reveal the real price soon

That pricing seems pretty eh bonkers.
Then again wouldn’t surprise me either.

Makes the GT range seem cheap now

Fair play to whoever pays well north of £100k for the 4 cylinder. Don’t think I could bring myself to do that.

But maybe buyers at this level don’t care or know what a cylinder is.

What will be interesting is how much Mercedes UK will stick its neck out GFV wise. Percentage residuals on SLs have not been good for a long time (Covid surge aside) and I can’t see them taking a risk. Even a well equipped 911C4S cab is cheaper.

I crossed this one right off my list.

Shame as was really interested. I have a 911 992 C2 on order (whenever the hell that will come) but recently been interested in the Corvette C8, been taken a back a bit by the sheer amount of spec you get for the money.

Hopefully the previous model will now come down in price a bit. Though I like this new one, I think the older car looks more classy.
