Hi all.
I’ve just been given a price by a Mercedes specialist to supply & fit a new condenser, £923.00.
I need it done because may be selling my car in the near future.
Has anyone else had this done & at what cost.
Just asking to see if cheaper any where else.

But this is for an original Mercedes condenser not a recon one or after market job-by.

Thanks for any help.

Regards.

Dave.

Did they break the invoice down for you? Assuming the genuine part is a fortune I'd expect the only way to economise is change to aftermarket

Hi there.

They did.
£494 genuine Merc condenser.
£210 (3hrs) fitting.
£65 re gas.
Total £922 incl VAT.

But, local Honda dealer will do it for £500 all in using after market item.

Happy with that to be fair. Seeing as I might be selling the car in the new year.

Thanks for reply.

I had it done a couple of years ago at about the same price.
However as this is a known issue I managed to get £650 back from Mercedes UK.
I did have a full main dealer service history which gave me some leverage.

Nothing wrong with an aftermarket condenser, £400-500 sounds about right, although with some of the AMG cars you have no option other than genuine. We went through 4 compresors before finally giving up and going genuine,

Interesting, but, I might be selling in 4/6 months, so as long as it lasts until then I’m good.

Was thinking that to be honest, but, if it’s done I can use that as leverage for the asking price.
As the condenser is a known problem.

FWIW I just had mine done at that cost. I initially had it re-gassed but it soon became clear it was the condenser. Quite a tricky job to get to it, hence the labour time.

Was the car out of warranty when you did this with MBUK? Mine is a 2013 coupe with full merc history and is obviously quite a long way out of warranty. Went at the weekend, could hear the R134a hiss out the system for about 30 mins

Thanks,
Sam

Mine is the AMG coupe.
Local Honda dealer knows it well, they said after market will be fine as fitted them before to cars.
So I trust them no worries, really good local garage.
