200d, 220d and 300d are the same 1950cc OM654 engine with different maps in the W213 E Class. MPG difference should be negligible.
They are one of the better 4 cylinder diesel units and a big improvement over the 2.1 units fitted to older models, particularly in terms of refinement.
213's up to about 2019 were available as the E350d which is the 254BHP 3.0 V6 diesel that has been around for years. The was replaced by the new 335BHP 2925cc straight 6 as the E400d. The E350d badge returned sometime in 2020 with the same straight 6 engine producing 286BHP. The 400d is only available with 4Matic 4WD. All V6 diesels are comparatively rare in the 213 range - they commanded a £10k premium new. The 400d is brilliant but you're looking at £35k+.
My long term average on my 2017 E220d estate is 48.7 MPG. Mid 50's is achievable on a motorway run if you keep it under 75, and I've seen 60+ a few times in slower traffic. The estates are 2-3mpg worse than the saloons as they're a bit heavier less aerodynamic.
I've been really happy with mine - they are a brilliant tool for covering big miles. The 360 camera option is well worth having, as is the Driver Assistance Pack - the latter is pretty rare though.

Mines nicely loaded soft close, full air suspension , proper leather, heated rear seats, 360 camera, burmeister, multi beam alot of the stuff is now std but mine had over 12k of options thankfully I didn't buy it new. Warning they do rattle alot! I'm slowly documenting fixing them all

My e220d estate 2016 older shape has averaged 42.8mpg according to OBC so the new ones will be better.
I figured they were all the same engine. (220 and 300).
I fancy the 300d but very little information on it. It is an ex MB employee car. Night edition with premium plus.
Seen report of 220 get easily 50mpg. It nothing on 300d.

I think the 20" wheels relate to the Night Edition, rather than Premium Plus pack. I have a 2019 AMG line with Premium Plus pack, AMG line comes with 19" which I prefer - a bit more rubber around the rim.
Yes you are correct. I should have added, it was a night edition with premium plus pack. If I could find an AMG line with Premium Plus pack that would be great for the 19" wheels.Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
