W208 - Steering Wheel Buttons - How to clean?
Discussion
CLK 320.
My steering wheel has remained in very good condition, but a sticky coating has gradually built up on the control buttons.
There was fluff there as well, but that has been removed using a small quantity of methylated spirit on a cotton bud.
For the sticky area, I have tried meths, hand soap, eye makeup remover, white spirit and WD40.
None of those products could remove the sticky substance. As the surface is plastic, the leather on the steering wheel rim is probably also plastic, they even did stitching , I was obviously careful not to use a strong chemical.
I am probably not alone in having this problem, so do any of you have the answer, about how to remove the sticky mess without damaging
the plastic ?
