W204 glow plug relay ... Thoughts before go back to garage?

Along with a service took my 09 CDI to a Mercedes specialist couple of weeks ago and told them I was getting a glow plug light issue.
They ran diagnostics and said was a short from glow plug 2 and best to replace all glow plugs. Got that done but am still getting an occasional glow plug light up on the dash (maybe one in four cold starts it appears for different times). So I'm assuming this is the relay?
My question is, when they ran STAR diagnostics should it have been obvious there was a relay issue too? Or does the intermittent nature mean is just one of those things that wouldn't have been noticeable over the couple of days they had it?
I'm just trying to work out if I should be annoyed or not! Spent north of a thousand pounds there so kind of frustrated that wallet will take another beating but don't want to be unreasonable if this wouldn't have been an obvious thing to check
