I nearly purchased a AMG GT R this time last year, but the reason I didn't was because it was too wide for my garage so purchased a R8 plus instead. We are moving house, and I will have one massive garage door smile, so now searching for a Magno hell green GTR, but there are none around only one that has been tuned, but I don't think I can risk a tuned car. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Also prices have held up well and increased since I looked last year, so if I brought new do you think I will still lose st loads in depreciation, or the fact it's going to be discounted and they aren't producing as many cars currently, would this mean prices will hold up well?

It's a very strange time to purchase a car, it feels like this bubble is going to pop, but I suppose while there is a delay in production this won't be the case. I spoke to my local Porsche dealer this morning, lead times for a Turbo S is June 2022 and even the Carrera S is March 2022.

A lack of microchips isn’t helping with manufacturing currently.

strange thing about those AMG GT R cars, also the GT S edition 1 cars...

2020 almost hole year, you could buy a nice edition 1 from say 76.000 euro (2015/16/17 cars) and a nice GT R from about 116.000 euro (2017/18 cars) in Germany (big BPM C02 tax comes on top on that when you bring it to the Netherlands)

anyhow, 2020 I thought, maybe next year (this year 2021) I can buy one, it will be lower another 15.000-25.000 euro so I hoped/thought.

But what happened and is still going on? price went up GT S edition 1 from 84.000 euro, prices GT R from around 129.000 euro... grrrr

so, I'm not happy, if they went down as 'normally' 15-22k minimum then it would be great and just what I thought, but instead they went up, and especially the GT R are the cars to own, great materials, great power, RWD very very fast on the Ring, so must be also good for the not so driving Gods on a track day, but also the punch from 100 to 200km/h and low down torque, you don't have to wring it for some fun.

The Leonard Collection 2017 green GTR sold on Sunday for £100,050 + £6,000 buyers premium. I think all performance cars seem to be enjoying a period of low depreciation just for the moment.

I have a Solarbeam Yellow GTR which I purchased new in July 2018 with every option ticked. Value now probably circa £105,000 to £110,000 so it is a “keep and enjoy” car. I don’t know what you would pay for a brand new GTR but it would be a facelift car with the improved dashboard. With a good dealer discount a modest spec car probably would be a good buy but it will still depreciate. The best value would be a low mileage secondhand car where someone else has taken the initial hit.

Do buy one. They are great cars!

Mercedes are doing £10k dealer contribution, so you're looking at £160k OTR, with delivery in November. You're possibly looking at £40k loss straight away.

Is it me or these pieces of kit just seem to be going up and up in price?

Its not just you, same here in the Netherlands and in Germany strangely...

Prices are even higher then last year, strange...still pretty young/new I thought, maybe in 2021 I can buy one with another 15-20k of the price...

but then 2021 started, nothing changed...so waited and waited just to see the prices creep up of those AMG GT-R

how that is possible? no idea, I guess they must be very good and also have some good value in the future as well.

I guess prices will go down again, but when? its not normal the way it (AMG GT-R) went and or as we normally could expect with expensive cars from just a few years old.

The Leonard collection car is now for sale at Bell Sport & Classics @ £122,950

I looked at buying that car and carried out extensive research beforehand, some interesting figures came to light...
June 2017 - New the car was circa £177,000 with very extensive spec / options
June 2017 - Car was sold to a well known dealer with delivery miles
June 2017 - Car was offered to known customers in private @ £215,000
June 2017 - Car was bought by the Leonard collection @ £205,000
Car used for 3,975 miles including one track day @ Spa.
May 2021 - Car sold as part of the CC Leonard collection auction @ £100,050 + fees = £106,050
New owner had paintwork attended to (scratch to o/s/r arch, front bumper and front wings) to make perfect - not cheap on a Magno green car!
PPF was applied to front bumper, wings and bonnet
August 2021 - Car part exchanged against a Ferrari to add to current collection.
August 2021 - Advertised by Bell Sport & Classic for £122,950

I went to view the car but there were a couple of issues that prevented me from buying @ the price we had agreed on the phone - needs front tyres, ideally front pads (cracked on edges), harnesses and extinguisher missing from car and the biggest issue for me was various noticeable stone chips on one of the front wings and the bonnet UNDER the PPF! Sadly i walked away as the service and the set up at Bell Sport was absolutely 1st class and they are a proper set-up.

Amazing how the price has swung from £177k to £215k to £106k to £122k in such a small mileage.
