Whilst trying to register on the mercedes me app and having to press the date of birth back month by month over 50 years I finally entered my postcode 4 times to be told it's incorrect .

So I went back a page to check if I missed anything and now I have to redo all details again possibly to discover my postcode is wrong again.

Well mercedes me

Anyone else had such fun?

It is a bit tricky. I found it was a lot easier and quicker to register and complete your details on the desktop site. Once complete, log in on your app.

It's a load of ste anyway: seriously is this stuff the best that arguably the best car manufacturer in the world can come up with? It's utterly woeful.

Then look at a Tesla.....

Agree.
I really like my Mercedes but the app is not just a waste of time it is actually annoying. It regularly prompts for an update (even though my phone is set to automatically update each night) and then each time it requires me to confirm the T&Cs and then log in again.
Recently it has not been recording journeys properly as it is unable to record the start location.
Writing this makes me wonder why I keep using it.

The endless Ts&Cs and requirements to log in drive me up the wall; I can only assume that it's some sort of German thing, they're funny about privacy etc and it does seem unique to them.

Mercedes me isn't half as annoying as a 7 year old in the back trying to put on a deep voice so that the Hey Mercedes system responds to them laugh

How new does a car need to be to work with MM?

I've just had a recall letter for one of mine; had it 16-months now and have never used it and have never bothered to see what it is supposed to do, although I did look further after reading the letter. Can't see the point, why do we need such junk in new cars?

My car is 2014 and needed a OBD dongle (provided free by the dealer). I don’t get all the Mercedes Me functionality that newer cars come with (they don’t need the dongle).

I have to say I am only trying to connect to mercedes me as I too got a recall notice over a software update they will send to the car somehow? They recommended I should join.
Anyway if it's a load of sh**e I will avoid, technology is sometimes not worth the bother

I'm out

Thanks for advice

Whilst I'm not generally a fan of Mercedes Me there is one function I use quite a lot and works well.

In MM you can search for postcodes/addresses from your mobile and then send that address directly to the car.

Then, when you get in the car and turn on navigation it asks you if you'd like navigation to said address.

This saves a lot of faffing around with whizz wheel controllers in the car.

For some reason I cannot change units from kpasc to PSI, even though PSI is displayed in the mobile MM and pc MM options.

Mines a 2016. Will have to give it a go.

I have to say I've had it for 4 years on 2 Mercedes cars I have and I don't get any of the issues mentioned above. I use app most days to track where my cars are, check I've locked them, etc. As mentioned above if I going somewhere I'll input the destination into the app and forward it to the car. With my E Class been a hybrid, its great in the winter as I can use the app to prewarm the car and defrost it. Equally in the summer I'll pre cool the car 5 mins before I leave so its nice and cool when i get in. No issue with asking to agree to T&C.

Mercedes service advisors are paid a commission for each one sold. I know this because I used to do it. I'm not sure how it made sense as they were free, but a nice little earner rofl
