Hi all

As must as I'm enjoying the Type R at the moment, I've never owned an Amg before. I've settled on the 2014 E63 shape (saloon) with the 5.5 TT

I know the MPG won't be brilliant.. But what kind of milage on a tank of fuel are folks getting with this engine? I do main roads and a tiny bit of town driving, alos I'm i right in thinking these are 66lt tanks?

Thank you.

I'd have thought you'd have the larger 80 litre tank on an E63. My 212 E500 has that size tank. Pretty sure it's standard on mine.

I'll get to see first hand soon! Deposit down on this E63, Allanite Grey, with all the options it seems, including top speed limiter removal, and AMG limited slip differential, even massage seats? Never had that before.. looking forward to getting it next week.

That's lovely. Congrats. It is indeed a fantastic engine - very tractable and in my opinion a lot more characterful than the 4.4 in the M5/M6. It does feel like it could do with another 500rpm to play with but that's a minor quibble.

High-20s MPG isn't that hard to achieve on a run either. Keep it at about 65mph and you'll see a bit higher over a longer motorway trip.

You've bought it at a good time of year too. Getting the most out of that engine's performance during the wetter months is quite a challenge (albeit a fun one!).

Niiiiice. You'll enjoy that. As others have said the later TT engines seem remarkably economical on part throttle. It just depends how much willpower you have :-)

Thank you! Seems like it can be enjoyed when low in the rev range as well. The M5, or M6 was going to be other choice as well, but this one on the engine alone.

Fingers crossed it stops raining at some point here, will a bit of getting used to, with the power to the rear wheels..

Thank you smile Very much looking forward to it!

I imagine when it's just me, I won't have the will power..

Some of the time I have the little on in the child seat in the back of I take her out to sleep, these will probably be my economy runs.. Still nice to enjoy the engine at low revs though.

Mine's got the relatively weedy n/a 5.5 with less than 400bhp & 400 lb/ft and even in that I can spend a huge amount of time loping at less than 2,000rpm. Not holding anyone up either smile

I presume yours will have the same-shaped torque curve, just 50% up at every point.

It'll be great at schelpping and utterly hilarious when you get it spooled up.

Bet that still goes well! and sounds good too.

Shouid be a nice blend of madness and performance (
the Fk8 is a bit to raw for me)

Also, with the Amg, the other half thinks I've bought something sensible, so that's a win. I did try to sway her by mentioning the massage seats.

That's very true. The E63 I tried but didn't buy (some years before buying an SL63 with the same engine) felt special at low speeds. In contrast, when just pootling around, the F10 M5 I tried felt like the 530d I was leasing at that time. It left me completely cold.

I also thought that the steering on the Merc was loads better than the M5 too.
