I'm looking for some advice on the Mercedes 280 SL, I couldn't find any threads.
I have a Volvo for work duties and now looking for a weekend car. The one I've seen on carandclassic is £16,495. It seems a great option for me, it's a 1981 so would be tax/mot exempt. Low miles & owners, like the idea of having the hard top option as I will need to keep it outside as I converted my garage into a room for the kids a few years ago. It seems a great buy for the money, I'm just worried about what to check on inspection.
Any pointers or links to threads would be great.

There are lots of MB fans and several 107 owners on the barge 1-5 thread. I know it won't feel like the right place to ask the question but it's not a bad place to start.

I'm on my phone so it's not easy to link, but there are lots of SL and SLC threads around in readers car, including an SLC thread of mine.

ETA link.

Love the car, it's in fantastic shape. Very solid all round, checked all the areas that I was advised on. 800 mile round trip! That's what I call a good day out. My first time using a trailer as well.

Car is fantastic, I'm currently improving it to a higher standard. Had the hub caps polished, some bodywork improved, chrome trim is next for being polished or replaced as I'm a bit fussy. Still in 2 minds whether to put a bench seat or fitted seats in the back. SL shop sell them at £500 for bench and around £1800 for the fitted seats. Great thing about this car is every part is readily available.

Looks great, thanks for sharing. I love the fabric pattern in the interior, very 70s/early 80s!
