Mercedes GLC43 AMG -advice (Asking for a friend)
Discussion
A mate had test driven a MY19 Mercedes GLC AMG43. Stunning car etc etc.
HOWEVER on full lock manoeuvring whether forwards or reverse he said that "something sounds to be grating" and he could feel it through the steering,
It sounded like the seller (MB Garage) had said something to the tune of "they all do that Sir".
To me that sounds utter boswellox and he needs to be walking away as fast as he can.
Could the the tyres be catching the inner wheel arch? Something as simple as the oversized AMG tyres scrubbing on the tarmac as he's moving about just scrubbing ?
On the road said it drive as you'd expect, just full lock manoeuvring. I wouldn't expect that sort of thing from MB.
Never having driven one / owned one all I really could advise was walk away.
Years ago I had a C32 AMG and that could obviously turn on a 6 pence etc as you'd expect.
Thanks
BS.

Nope - it's crabbing due to Ackermann
There is a Steering knuckle fix, but not for 43/63 unfortunately. Can be mitigated (but not cured by tyre swap)
My 350d had the steering knuckle fix which has cured it but beforehand it did exactly as you describe. Not v good for a company that used to use 'the best or nothing'
