G wagon

Hi all,
Had many LR overs and had two years ago a pp lease jobbies SLK 250cdi amg.
I have a rare defender svx convertible, but need an auto.
So anyone have experience with G wagon??

Are you looking for the 2019 shape onwards or the pre 2018/2017 shapes? Diesel or AMG petrol?

So I had a G350 Diesel 2011 for 4 years. Loved it and solid as anything. I now have a 2017 G63 AMG. Absolutely awesome drive and love the interior over the 2011 interiors. These are marmite cars, as a lot of people hate the way it drives. But I love it, that's its character. Nice driving height and visibility.

I have driven the 2019 G63 and its another league in the way it drives. It feels like driving the C63 S AMG but higher up. Lots of power, stable and super smooth.

Thank you for your reply. I have been looking around and the later cars are very nice inside. Petrol or diesel, only will be used occasionally as the mustang will share the mileage , combined 3k !!
I guess the first thing is to get an idea for the SVX and then see what’s ‘near’ starting point.
If only I hadn’t of gone to Dubai for Xmas and new year!

At the other end of the scale I have a 1994 G300 petrol LWB

Had it for around 5 years and still enjoy it.

Rock hard ride, noisy, very basic, 15 mpg. Built like a tank though.

I am probably swapping it soon for a newer model though as I need a bit more comfort these days!
