Admittedly, I have a heavy right foot and do most of my driving around town, but I’m averaging 21/22mpg over 18k miles. Is anyone else close to this? It’s a 2019 model.

That’s about right for mostly town use. On a gentler motorway cruise with a bit of M25 traffic it was just over 30mpg. Great engine.

Ah right, not just me then. I’ve had high 40s on a run so can’t complain, was just expecting around 26 urban. But yes, it’s a nice motor on the whole.

Wow, that is pretty low.

My old 3.5 litre V6 E350 used to get 29mpg round town and 38 on a run.

I had a 330i for a couple of days recently, and it was doing 37mpg just nipping around and on a 40 mile run with a computer reset it saw just under 50mpg. It was very impressive.

Have you tried running 98 ron?

My old 350 used to drink a lot more on 95 ron. No mention of it being set up for 98 on any UK literature, but the German manual mentioned all mpg and hp figures were based on 98ron.

I would try it, it will take 2 tanks to start advancing the timing, let the tank run to nearly empty then fill with 98/99ron and see if that improves things.

I have a 2017 W205 C300 Cab. Over Christmas I brimmed the tank and drove with the eco display on, trying to get the thing glowing green with all 3 three sectors as perfect. This meant gentle acceleration, minimal breaking, and some coasting.

I averaged 38 mpg

I'm not sure why this engine is so poor at economy, probably the weight

I haven’t, but I will fill up with 98 next time the tank is empty, she what happens.

Quite possibly, they’re not the lightest things in the world, especially for their size.

In Sport+ its stupidly low, the engine holds engines in high rev range for fun. I do love this engine setting though. The exhaust burp at 4k revs is a nice sound under acceleration, even at circa 80mph (on a closed airfield)

The gearbox is also shocking at low speeds in Sport+, extremely jerky. Still, you cant have the best of both worlds I guess.

Agreed, I averaged 11mpg keeping it in Sport + for a week (admittedly driving a little bit like a yobbo). It hangs on to 1st for dear life even under gentle acceleration.
