CLS v SL - love it or list it

I've had a 55 reg CLS500 for four years now and am considering a change. My thoughts head towards a 2006-2011 SL, 3.5 or 5.0.
Apart from the convertible aspect (though Mrs L has an SLK), would I really be getting more by spending more? I did test a 2004SL a few years ago and it's the only car I have ever felt carsick in whilst actually driving it. I tend to drive the CLS in sport mode, so I probably should have checked the ride options on the SL first.
The CLS is black, with black leather and black piano "wood" - which I don't mind, but ivory/cream upholstery also appeals (correct, I'm not far off my pension). Should I have the old girl valeted & mopped, treated to new rubber and have the parking sensor's nervous tic fixed? or move on to the R230?
