Hello All

I made the mistake of looking somewhere I shouldn't have the other day and found that the coolant pipe was rusted underneath the scuttle panel. Whilst I'm replacing it and disturbing the system, I decided to replace all the pipes. My local dealer has been able to find nearly all the parts from Milton Keynes and Germany except one pipe. Can anyone suggest a supplier who can help?

So far in addition to a general internet search, I've also tried:
Starpartz
MBSpecialist.com
Autodoc.co.uk

Thanks for the reply. I've got the part number (A201 832 28 94) and have tried doing a search on both it and Mercedes coolant hose. Unfortunately very few of the suppliers I've found acknowledge it is a genuine part number, let alone having stock.

It no longer appears on the MB price file or supersession file so it's certainly NLS from the factory.

You could ask your friendly dealer to carry out a national parts stock check (if it hasn't already) which checks a file combining all stock of the dealer network in the hope someone has one going dusty on a shelf but it's a needle in a haystack chance sadly.

MB Poole is pretty clued-up so may be worth a call, though I had difficulty reaching them a couple of weeks ago. They did call back after a couple of days though.

The following sequence of hose part numbers are all still listed so it might be worth double-checking you have the right one, e.g. did you read it off the hose and could it be very faint?

A201 832 05 94
A201 832 07 94
A201 832 10 94
A201 832 12 94
A201 832 19 94
A201 832 25 94
A201 832 35 94
A201 832 55 94
A201 832 59 94

I did wonder about calling Poole. I haven't done so far as when I've asked them to quote previously they came up with the same answer as my local dealer. However if you don't ask people don't ask you where to go... It's not like I've anything to lose.

I've cross-referenced the pipe using EPC and it agrees with the chassis number. The 7-Zap system doesn't come up with any alternative, another thing to do is look at the W124 part. I expect the bulkhead part of the heating & coolant system to be different, but at the front it depends how much work they needed to do to squeeze the longer engine in.

Thanks

Because that would be far too simple...

Or I thought it was until I tried to pay and they only seem to want to deliver to Germany, reinforcing they don't want to deliver to the UK is that it's the only bit written in English.

I've done a google translate of the help page and found this paragraph:
No. When ordering via our online shop, we only deliver to consumers with habitual residence in Germany. This means that both your billing address and your delivery address must be in Germany. For orders outside of Germany, please contact the sales staff at a Mercedes-Benz branch or another authorized Mercedes-Benz sales partner.

As I've tried my local dealer and they can't source it, I'm assuming that Poole is the UK classic specialist and might be more useful.

Fair enough. Given that this part is NLA in the normal parts store https://originalteile.mercedes-benz.de/schlauch-24... , but in the classicparts store, I'd point MB Poole to that German offer.

Yes, seems like the next step forward, easier than moving to Germanybiggrin. Whilst I was on the site I had a look for a throttle cable, unfortunately that wasn't on the list.

At least this website proves that the part does exist, thanks.

To complete where I got to with this. I ended up measuring the inner and outer diameters of pipe and ordering some standard section. Probably unsurprisingly it isn't a common size. Then after receiving I put it with the other pipes I had ordered and I realised there was another length of standard section, the parts counter gave it to me instead of the 2 inch length to the heater tap, as that pipe was NLA as well. It was the same diameters as the pipe I was missing. So I ended up getting both pipes out of the length the parts counter supplied and now have a spare length.

Whilst it was drained down I replaced the nearside heater matrix 'O' ring and realised that doing the far side (steering column side) didn't seem feasible without significant stripdown. Unfortunately it hasn't cured the leak from the matrix, so I've tried some Forte leak seal. Not had much of a chance to check it, but it seems to be working.

Please update on the effectiveness of this leak seal in the coming weeks, I too have replaced the nearside o ring on my W201 and now the other side has decided to drip rolleyes Ballache ripping the dash out….

In addition to the obvious reasons for avoiding removing the dash, I've also already got enough 190 trim panels cluttering the house, so trying to avoid / delay it. I'm reasonably confident is wasn't too bad a leak as it only seemed to happen when the heater tap was off, creating a back pressure. With the heater on there didn't seem to be any leak, confused me when I first took it for a run to try and find the source of the leak.
