My wife has got a slow puncture on her W204 C63 (estate if that makes a difference)......perfect opportunity to put some nice boots all round.

It has the 19" wheels, but current tyres are stretched and ultra low profile so thought I would go back to factory sizes. Couple of questions.

What are the front and rear tyre sizes we'll need (i don't want a direct replacement so can't just go by what's on there at the moment).

What tyre is factory standard....and what are people generally most happy with. I certainly don't want a budget tyre, but also if there's a well priced performance tyre for good money I don't want to over spend.

Also can you let me know what you paid for your tyres? Slow puncture means I'd like to act fast and want to figure out if a local garage is over-princing them? I don't mind paying a bit of a premium as helping local businesses etc, but don't want to be ripped off.

Thanks and apologies for a such a wordy place for what is basically 'what tyre'.

Lift the petrol flap to see correct OEM front/back tyre sizes and pressures.

Do not be tempted with ditchfinder tyres because this car will overwhelm them easily. Skimping on the cheapest part of ownership will deprive you of the full pleasure of the C63. I have Pirellis on mine. About £120 per corner.

Thanks for this. Agree on the ditchfinders and defo after premium tyres. Was budgeting £200 a tyre but seen Michelin Sport Pilot 4 S for around £165 each fitted.

What are your Pirellis? Sounds like may be a good budget premium tyre?

I bought a pair of Michelin pilot sport 4S 235/35 R19 for the front on my C63 coupe back in summer for £280 fitted

Continental Tyres as standard fitment from factory on mine when purchased 2nd hand from MB dealer 3 years ago.
Budget tyres, not a chance I would even be thinking about replacing mine with.
Don’t even think about getting budget tyres, the braking system and components on these cars are flawless.
So, what with the power these Cars generate, torque & top speeds, I would only consider, Continentals, Pirelli’s or Michelin pilot sports as replacements.
Budget tyres are so called because they are made on a budget, they will not cope with the brutal acceleration of these monsters or the huge braking force that is needed to slow you down.
£200 a corner will get you a nice tyre. A tyre you feel confident knowing you have fitted.

These are C63 front tyres.

I would get these when I’m ready to replace.

Thanks all. Pilot Sport 4 S all round it is then. Unfortunately the slow puncture turned out to be a cracked alloy. D'oh.

Michelin tend to be the factory fitment for the current range of AMG's, and includes the Pilot Sport 4 S.

Should be a good choice.

Mine are Pirelli P Zero all round. Had Michelin before which did not last long and struggled to handle the power. Personally, I think the P Zeros are better, albeit I don't think there is a premium tyre which will hold hard driving in the damp......was sideways on my drive today.

By all accounts Mitchelin PS4s are the best tyres for the W204 C63.

I sourced a full set and had them fitted through Costco during the summer. They were doing £100 quid off four when I bought mine. I couldnt find them cheaper anywhere else.

A viable second option are the latest Goodyear Eagle F1's. They are slightly cheaper and meant to be very good.

Had pilot sports all round on my c63 estate and the grip was great although it was fitted with the LSD.

My car has 19” wheels and has Michelin 4S, which seem great.

When I bought my car, it came with 275 aspect rears ( factory standard is 255), which on examination had rubbed against the near side wheel arch liner.

If OP stretched the sidewalls to get ultra low profile rubber, I am not surprised about a cracked alloy wheel. Check the rest of the wheels have not been smacked into 50p shapes......I had an E55 which reshaped its wheels on potholes and road humps.

anyone been running 265 rear on a w204 63 amg?

mine have 255 30 19s but wondering if 265 would work on OEM wheels to give a bit more bite?

or waste of time.

My 275s rubbed the wheel arch liner on the rear near-side, so reverted to 255s.

You wouldn’t notice the difference in grip.

Did you get the alloy repaired or replaced?
Was it a forged alloy? Any idea on cost of repairs?

I've run Michelin pilot sport 4S in 265 on the rear for years, I'd recommend it. Huge grip.

thanks Hammy - so no rubbing? my car is a standard c63 wagon and not lowered.

the 265s seem to be cheaper than the 255s so will give them a run next year.

@FatHippo one of my rears has been repaired as crack on the inside. has a decent weld on it so all good. any good alloy place should be able to weld it or send off for repairs. Lepsons in kent are good but not cheap. The alloy wheel clinic in farnham are near to me and could help if you down this way.
