So, Mercedes trying to set up my A45s test drive in the next couple weeks when they get a car in, though probably delayed now when lockdown is announced.

Anything I should watch out for/try?

Current car is M2 so it really is a jump to the dark side, just fancy trying something new having had Bmw for last 12/13 years.

Why would it be a jump to the dark side?
I know its popular terminology but you will be driving the most powerful 4 cylinder engine in current production so just enjoy the experience and make up your own mind.
Nobody here can advise you otherwise.

My opinion....i would have a CLA 45S in a heartbeat, even though the power is complete overkill for public road use.
The sweet spot for me would be CLA 35, or A 35 if you prefer a less stylish hatchback.

For me it’s the dark side! Having been a self confessed Bmw fanboy for some years, it’s only seems right to at least go try one and get some opinions rather than dismiss and never know :-)

Though it may have to wait till Dec now with the latest news :-(

Having come from a previous gen A45 (2016, bought new, facelift) and then on to an M140i, by comparison we found the A45 four pot manic and the car quite soul less. We found it hard to bond with, though extremely quick cross country.

I cant imagine you'd find the A45S real world quicker and i think you'd miss the straight six up front.

There was a definite wow factor when we drove it, but on reflection we wouldnt have another A45.

No doubt the A45S is a step on from the previous gen, but likewise its also a significant step up in price.

You are not kidding.....at 421hp/500Nm and 3.9 seconds 0-62mph the top of the range A 45 S is currently £57,195 OTR. eek
Mercedes model designation is a little bit confusing for the current A 45 S because they call it 4Matic+ which refers to the AWD system, but the highest trim spec is designated Plus...so you have 4Matic plus plus. biggrin
