C207 coupe or convertible- engine thoughts
Discussion
I bought a 2010 E350 CDi a year ago with 70k on the clock and it's white with the pano roof and red leather.
Since then I've stuck 40k on it and have had to sort a leaky pipe in the power steering and had the electronic ignition switch issue (they all do that sir - Google it). Normal servicing at my local indy has been no more expensive than anything else I've owned and I love it. Mind you the best part of 400lb ft of torque does help.
It's wearing well inside with no squeaks or rattles or broken bits but then does have a relatively easy life with me.

I can only really speak about the 350cdi (265 version); even torquier than the earlier ones, ie 457ft/lbs, with numerous internal engine changes and with better economy. Smooth for a diesel, and once on a run you're not really aware that it's a diesel. Clearly it is but it doesn't make itself that obvious and many non-petrolheads wouldn't know. A good blend of performance v. economy. 265s came in approx late 2011 from memory and, IIRC, at same time as the straight DRLs
I have driven the 4.7tt E500 version of the same model, but only over relatively short distances, and, in the real world didn't think there was much difference in performance, certainly if m/way cruising, as there's not much in it torque-wise. Obviously it's petrol and you haven't asked about 500s (few and far between in any event) but the point is it demonstrates the strengths of the later 350Cdi.
Can't comment on the 1.8 petrol or 2.1 diesel as never driven one.
