Hi all

Due to pick the car up next week and really looking forward to it. As with all second hand car purchases the early stages of ownership one worries about reliability, things going pop and potential disasters. I have one specific question and one general question.

1) amongst the Merc experts here, what might be the best warranty extension to buy after the 3 months deal warranty is up? (clearly it isn't a Merc garage I am buying from). The dealer is trying to sell me an RAC product at £399 per annum. I am very confused by what and what is not included. I think the terms are written specifically for wriggle room later!

2) Are there any owners out there who are really happy (or otherwise) with their 2015 E400 and may have some tips and tricks?

Thought of another whilst I was typing...

3) I am SE London and wondered whether there were any highly recommended Merc specialist garages that I might contact to start a relationship for servicing and diagnostics if and when required.

I am looking forward to picking the car up after 7 years of Porsche ownership. It'll be very different but I expect it to be a good experience.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

JM

I have a 2016, E400 cabrio.
Hopefully yours has the 3.5L V6 engine. If so head down to road rage performance in Kent. I've had mine remapped to 426BHP, mid range is just phenomenal. Leon af road rage has specific maps for the 3.5L which is a rare unit.
Absolutely stunning car, love mine.
Does everything well. Just let down a smidge by the soft chassis when pushing on. But as a fast cruiser and summertime toy, lovely.

I've got the 3.5, I'm tempted to follow your lead. Have you had any issues? What did it do to your mpg?

Hope you're enjoying it still? Good stealthy car the E400.

1.) I have the Dealer one

2.) Android Auto can be retrofitted easily. Worth doing if not done already, the Merc dealer did it for me when I first picked it up early this year.

3.) Wayne Gates in Harrow is worth the journey. Gets good reviews on the Merc forums, but only been once myself.

No issues at all, haven't really noticed an MPG difference as the car is a summer only toy. The difference in the mid range is staggering. Pulls very hard.
when researching make sure you go somewhere who can map the actual 3.5
It's quite different from the 3.0 and runs lower boost and different cylinder heads. chicking a 3.0 map into the 3.5 could be unwise. Lots of places do not have a map for the 3.5 as there are much less of them about.

I did notice the 'stop start' function now doesn't work when Eco is switched on. It seems to have knocked that feature out. No bad thing, it's annoying as hell and i've no use for it anyway with the type of driving i do. Leon (the guy who mapped it) suggested someone with M.B. STAR diagnostics would be best placed to re-enable it.
