S211 Self leveling suspension
Discussion
I've not seen it, the car is some 3 hours away, I've asked has it ever had a turbo, has it ever had the compressor or airbags replaced and gearbox fluid change, its been with the current owner 4 years and none of the above have been done. They did say that it doesn't have air suspension at the back as it didn't come with it.
To be fair they may just not be aware. I owned my S211 for a while before I realised it had self levelling on the rear. I loaded it to the roof for a family trip to N.I., thought 'oh dear, thats sitting very low at the back', started the car and moved it across the drive and noticed it had levelled itself up

I have a W211 with airmatic and you get two buttons by the gear selector for suspension mode and "up on stilts mode". Do rear-only S211s get any extra buttons that could be used to tell?
Non Airmatic S211s all get self levelling but no buttons. Get the vin from,

Then check what the spec says here,

I can normally get the vin through eurocar parts but as its just come off a plate transfer the age related plate does not show. I can then use the vin to pull up the original build spec from mercedes.
Having said that the chassis number does come up on the check my reg site (thanks for thank link) so i'll check tomorrow what it should have.

I think all estates had self levelling rear air suspension. No buttons though.
The airbags have a finite life and some owners replace them with aftermarket springs.
When I sold mine after spending the value of the car attempting to fix the suspension, the next owner replaced the suspension with standard springs. The airbags have a finite life and some owners replace them with aftermarket springs.
