aircap problems on 2011 e350 cabriolet

hi i was hoping somebody may be able to advise.
the aircap/ on the front windscreen refuses to close
. it closes almost fully but then instantly opens fully, ive tried disconecting battery to see if it would reset which made no difference. i would happily have it disabled in the closed position if that is possible. the electric motors that power it seem fine. im trying to avoid paying out for a complete new aircap removal and replacement which would be mega exspensive
