always been a BMW and Porsche man but time has come to get some Grace, Pace and Space.

have had many 911s, M3s, two CSLs and some other track day stuff.

my 10 year old has got very tall and can't get in the back of the 911 (997) so it had to go. managed to get a private sale done a few weeks back

just got a silver 2014 C63 AMG estate with the 6.2 v8. what an engine and sound. its had the MSL remap and secondary de cats done already. makes a cracking noise when you hit the loud pedal and epic in tunnels.

dyno says 523 bhp so plenty quick enough.

70k miles, FSH, silver with the black 507 side decals (i think)

have got hooked on mountain biking and must say we can get the mountain bikes in the back for a lads trip plus family outings are no longer squeezed or moaning about the noise of the 911. roof rack going on too and maybe a tow bar for the true family look ;-)

what a great car the merc is. first one for me.

anything to watch out for or niggles? its dreadful on fuel but life is too short to worry about MPG

two rear wheels need a refurb as are diamond cut but water has got in behind a stone chip. i think I might go gloss black and powder coated for longevity?

thanks for reading/looking.

Great car. I have a similar model. Two things.....cracked alloy wheels mine just failed an MOT on this and keep an eye on the oil level. Pads do wear fronts especially and discs will need replacing depending upon driving style. Other than this enjoy your car.

That looks great! I do like the estate version.

I replaced a M135, which was a good car, but the extra space in the C63 has made it much easier to pile in and head out with kids / bikes etc.

Mine has an attempt of a 507 decal, but with a roof stripe too. I'm thinking about ditching the roof decal, but leaving the sides for the time being.

The engine is something else; it's over the top and completely ridiculous really.. But so addictive! Mine has a full service history, complete with a good number of receipts. Looking through the paperwork, it’s needed nothing unexpected over the years. A fair number of tyres though. I use it daily and currently average 16mpg.

Well done on the purchase Nick, looks like you got yourself a deal there.

There isn’t much to worry about on the post 2012 cars, I know of 3 that have had the same issue with the a/c pressure valve sensor, basically makes the main fan run full speed all the time, about 1hr to fix + test. Other than that cracking 19” alloys and the 19” are particularly sensitive to geo set up (easy to wear the inside few mm of the tyre).

I think you’ll recognise mine wink

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the sledgehammer club. I’ve had mine albeit a coupe for over two years now and I love every minute of it and apart from the AC which was repaired under warranty, I’ve had no issue with it.

Mine replaced a TVR V8S as I needed 4 seat and in hindsight, i wish I’d opted for the wagon like you did.

good choice, I've owned many many cars, als many M cars and porsche and TVR etc etc.

I also will go to Mercedes, not because of space or kids, but find those 'lightweight' AMG GTS GTR etc and or SLK 55 AMG more interesting then what BMW has on offer, so I will try those V8 AMG cars also this year.

You can also buy AMG V8 with very high power that can be very good on fuel consumption, in 1 mode when you drive normal, it cuts out 4 cill from 8 so its very fuel economic, but as soon as you need power, its there without hesitation.

I believe its those 4.0 biturbo AMG cars, also for the C63 and C63s plenty of power, way more economical when not using the power as a 6.2 V8.

thanks all. sledgehammer club. i like that.

yes Kris looks familiar ;-)

looking forward to using it more and getting to know the car.

am thinking I will go Satin or gloss black for the wheels to match the stripe and maybe black/carbon mirror covers too.

The biturbo lump doesn’t do cylinder deactivation. It’s surprisingly “economical” (say 30mpg+) on a motorway run though.

correct, today I discovered it is the SLK 55 AMG R172 with the 5.5 without the biturbo's, that V8 uses that system.

And there was me thinking I must be the only C63/TVR S Series enthusiast!

had the wheels done. The Alloy wheel clinic in Farnham did a great job at a great price. 220 plus vat

wheels were acid dipped, then shot blasted, then a few coats in Powder coating and baked. they had the car friday and back today - take your time I said and really happy with the finish

Some lovely wagons here! My friend recently picked up a coupe, I'm finally going to be getting myself a c63 in April and I am struggling to decide between coupe or wagon. W204 C63 has been my dream car for about 8 years. Absolutely nuts cars, everything about them makes zero sense to anyone who isn't a petrol head and I love that fact.

The estate makes sense for what I use it for. My bike fits in with just the front wheel removed, saving me from putting the roof bars on. I did load it up a while ago for a run to the tip... But subsequently discovered the back end was too low to get off my driveway!

I’ve recently joined the fold with a silver estate, albeit on 18s.

It’s one of those cars you either “get” or don’t understand. Early days with mine, it’s currently having its wheels refurbished and two new rear tyres fitted at the same time.

the fun bus is now on 18s and winter tyres as quite frankly it got hilarious at every roundabout ;-)

temps have really dropped too

have gone with the OEM 5 spoke wheels and done in the same satin black - great job by Ryan at Alloy wheel clinic in Farnham

it rides a lot better on the winter wheels with bigger sidewalls and is a joy to drive with less crashing n banging. still a hoot as always
