I have a leaking NSR shock absorber. The car has the AMG sports suspension with Active Body Control so it’s a hydraulic unit as I understand it. First off I’m not sure why it should fail and leak after just under 4 years old and less than 40,000 miles. But Mercedes Benz Manchester tell me it has to be replaced and the cost is just a whisker under £2,500.

I haven’t seen any breakdown of the cost yet to see how much is parts vs Labour. It just seems premature for a car that hasn’t been abused and OTT on price.

Does anyone have experience of one of these failing on a car with ABC?

Any recommendations for an independent Mercedes specialist that could do this for a more reasonable cost?

I believe you can buy reconditioned one from Arnott, there may be others now.

PH has a MB indy guide at the top of this section: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
