Hi there.
Just after people’s general thoughts please.
Since owning my 2013 C63, purchased from Mercedes dealer in 2017, it’s always been serviced by Mercedes.
I missed the 2019 ‘B’ service as only done 1600 miles since last service in 2018.

Had various prices for ‘B’ service from Mercedes Benz, varying from £657 to £541.

Phoned PCS for a price, recommended to me by a couple of people with old and latest C63s, £300 ‘B’ service, £45 Brake fluid, £10 sunroof lube.
Also, £200 gearbox oil change as never been done I’ve now found out. Total £555.00

If I go to Mercedes for this, incl gearbox oil, prices from £932.69 to £902.31.

So, out of interest, would going non Merc affect the resale value that much do you think.
May be selling next year.

Or, would people pay £380 or so more for genuine Mercedes service including 1 year Breakdown cover.

Thanks for any replies to this interesting, to me, post.

So long as the specialist has the software to update the service book I dont think it really matters. If selling privately a bill is way more important than a stamp and with little mileage per annum a buyer isnt going to worry so long as you change the fluids. I use mine so little that with a B service due this week, it should have happened in February it will be interesting to see what Mercedes in Watford say. I am 118 days past the due date with under 1100 miles in 12 months.

Thanks for reply, interesting.

My was due the ‘ B’ service last September, but due to low miles since last service I thought I would leave until March this year.
Then lock down happened, so even later, but doesn’t matter, I think as long as I get it done soon.

Cheers.

PCS are a very well known and respected indy, a service stamp from them is probably worth as much, if not more than a Mercedes dealer to those in the know.

As these cars get older, franchise service histories start to mean less.

Saying that, put yourself in the buyers shoe's. If you were deciding between two cars, 1 had full merc history, the other a specialist history. Which would you prefer?

Hi.
Yeah, know what you mean by which would you prefer, but PCS for my car would be the first non Merc, as all other services are Mercedes Dealers.

Saying that, PCS said gear box oil due a change, but Merc garage have never said anything even though previous owner never had it done after 3 years. Also, when I took it for a service 1 year after I had it, nothing was mentioned about gearbox oil.

I always view main dealer as little more than laptop jockeys and fitters. None could rebuild a gearbox, few actually understand how an engine works and they all rely upon electronic tools. For the more subtle and detailed jobs I would always use a decent independent garage who will give you a proper bill and often take the care and time to do the job properly not charge you even six, ten or twelve minutes as the accounts dept require.

Is there any reason why you didn’t opt for the Merc service plan? My 2013 C63, purchased in 2016, came with a 2 year service plan and, after that was up, I purchased another 2 years. I paid £35 per month for 2 years which got me an A and B Service. The B service was the last service of the plan and was carried out a few weeks ago.

Spoke to Merc about another 2 years and they quoted £44 per month.

Hi .
Wasn’t to bothered about a service plan really, not really much in it, so just decided to pay as and when.
Haven’t lost out to be honest.
Regards.
Dave.

Well, if it helps, all my services have been around 1500 miles after the due date/mileage lol...I'm sure future tyre kickers will have a field day over that!
