R172 SLK55 Chrometec exhaust flap control
Discussion
Long time lurker, infrequent poster here looking for some advice. I've owned my late 2015 AMG SLK 55 from new and enjoy it immensely. Mainly used for continental touring with my wife, so a mix of mountains and motorways.
I would really like a little more aural drama from the exhaust; owning the last naturally aspirated AMG V8 being the key reason for swapping from my previous R172 SLK 350.
I use sport or manual mode usually, but I do use comfort mode on motorways to benefit from 30+mpg. Hence my preference for a supplementary exhaust flap control, so I can also enjoy the V8 at low revs / low loads, whilst switching back to normal when running in comfort / 4 cylinders on motorways and avoid the 4 cylinder droning that you'd get with permanently open flaps or an aftermarket exhaust system.
So my question is: has any one here fitted a Chrometec "electronic supplementary exhaust flap control" and what are your views on it - aural effect, ease of fitting, reliability etc.
Sorry for the long post (also posted on SLK World), and thanks in advance.
