Hi All, disaster tonight. Went to take the AMG GTR out for a run and alas, dead as a doornail. No lights on dash, nothing. Battery is full (according to my charger anyway) I left it unlocked overnight so I got into it ok but no idea what the issue is, any ideas lads? Both keys have new batteries and all was well yesterday,

Have you got a battery to try from another vehicle?
Did you have the battery on trickle charge beforehand? When you unlocked the car, did you use the keyfob?
When was the car last started?
Havent tried a battery yet, car was unlocked so didn't need to unlock it. Dont use a trickle charger as use it every other day, may be a duff battery though, I'll try a battery and report back, thanks so far lads.Did you have the battery on trickle charge beforehand? I had this with mine and it took Mercedes about 6 weeks and 4 visits to diagnose. It turned out to be a faulty battery cable. The battery was absolutely fine, but something was amiss with what is a relatively inexpensive part which shouldn't really go wrong. I really would strongly advise getting that checked.
Btw, you might still get it started by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, simply that by chance it knocks itself into place so to speak. At that point I would advise driving to the dealership. Equally, I had a lot of lights on the dash when I was driving, telling me to pull over blah blah during the time when they couldn't diagnose and kept thinking they'd fixed it (the old software update trick). I kept driving as I knew if I pulled over it would die,and all was fine.
As another aside, if driving, turn off the stop start - last thing you want is for it to suddenly leave you stranded at the lights.

Good man, I did disconnect the battery and it started first time on reconnection, really strongly too suggesting the battery is fine as you say. I'll contact the dealer with this info, hopefully it's something they're aware of. An aside if you would, race start: am I correct to engage sport plus - hard on brake - full gas - release brake?, seems awfully sluggish to take off. And this emoton start thing, one paddle engaged on startup? doesn't sound any different to be honest, Btw, you might still get it started by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, simply that by chance it knocks itself into place so to speak. I have a UK July 2018 GT-R and there is no mention in the handbook of “Emotion Start” and holding one paddle on start up makes no difference. Maybe this is something that was introduced later in production.
Yeah, think it might be a later introduction, it is mentioned in the GT manual I downloaded from MB but maybe doesn't apply to ours, mines Dec 18,Cheers anyway

Didn't they add this after they made some WLTP changes which took away some of the sound goodness? (think I read that about the new C63 somewhere) Would have been 2019 cars onwards if that was the case.Cheers anyway
