Does anyone know if a 2018 UK AMG GT-R will have a Lithium battery or a “normal” battery.

I want to connect the car to a CTEK battery conditioner and I am not sure which one to use.

Unfortunately the handbook is not very helpful.

Internet searches suggest that the battery may be Lithium.

Any UK knowledge would be helpful. Thank you.

In case anyone comes looking for the answer, I spoke with the supplying dealer yesterday and they confirmed that it does have a Lithium battery so I have ordered the CTEK Lithium XS conditioner.

I am on the same quest ! So, thankyou for the information, and i will also be investing in the CTEK lithium charger too.

have you fitted the fly lead to the battery full time, with the eyelet connectors, or do you just use the clip on connectors ?

I purchased the Lithium XS Ctek charger and use the fly lead attached to the battery terminals. In the early days it had a couple occasions where it got to 3 or 4 yellow lights and then went to red and I had to reset it. Since then it has been faultless. I am very happy with it.

when you attached to the fly lead to the main terminals, did you simply unscrew the small screws in the top of the posts and insert the eyelet connectors, ( correct way round of course), and then nip them up again with the screws ?

Thread diversion - regarding your oil temps - when the car is warmed up, what sort of temps are you getting on the mail oil temp and transmission oil temps please ??

I had my first drive today ( other than the test drive), and my main oil temp was about 98 degrees, and the transmission temp was about 90 degrees. --- (if I recall correctly !)

Hello all.....I recently had a flat battery from lack of use (doh!) so had Mercedes Technical people out. I asked about trickle charge and he said don’t connect it directly to the battery terminals...there is a positive terminal under a ‘slider’ with a + on it near the battery and a negative earth point in the engine compartment just ahead of the battery ‘compartment’....

Ahh, thats interesting. I've found those two pick up points as shown on the pics below.

What is the benefit of connecting there please ? There is obviously a technical reason for it.

I’m sorry I was told by the technician but didn’t listen properly!
