As posted on the FB group, i thought id share my story of woe with you guys, too.

Unfortunately my C63 decided to toast itself on the 8th of April coming back from a shell garage, i was in manual mode and using it to full effect. Got to my local town and let the car down cool down as i would any turbo car (like the old evos) and the fan was on full blast even when i came to a stop after 15 mins of driving slow.
This hasn't been abnormal in the past and i've pulled up with the fan running in the past and left it. I can only assume something like oil was leaking from gbox or engine.
I was , as you can imagine ,absolutely gutted to watch it go up like that! I ran back and forth with buckets of water to keep the fire from going to the tank which id just filled up. I've had a look around and i've seen one of other instance of such a thing and it seems to be around the g box oil, but id had that serviced only a few months prior. I guess we will never know now though as its all so damn well nuked.
The car didn't smell of smoking when I stopped but the fans were on. Its the most gutted I've been since a mate dying, thats how much this car meant to me, my Evo going pop wasn't a big deal compared to this as i knew the Evo would be repairable but this at 15k for a crate engine and all the plastics being burnt i knew it was a goner. Still onward and upwards, i'm almost as adamant to get another c63, if not something a bit more nimble like GT4 Cayman or a M2, but you really cant beat that w204 V8 for sound or go ! ... We shall see, as im furloughed at the moment so keeping insurance money safe in my bank . The moral of the story, be extra cautious about your car after giving it a bit of a drive, have your own ramps so you can so your own check for any leaks / sniff out for any burning smells after driving it. frown.

Nightmare. I saw that post on the FB group.

Hopefully the insurance will pay out without too much issue, and even better if you have GAP.

Yeah they were really good about it to be honest. I would recommend Admiral.

Happy that all has kind of ended well.

On another forum i posted that i was with Admiral with 2 vehicles and there were posters on about how they are on payouts...this is good to hear your positive experience.

I take it yours was a W205, as W204’s don’t have turbos...!!!!!

Nah, not really. just using hte manual mode of the gear boxes. I have a suspicioun the gb oil was leaking and onto a hot header = kaboom as it caught fire from the middle back..

I'm gonna get another , if i dont get another Evo or M2. Best cars ive driven so far smile. I did consider a S4 with a sports diff then i realised i hated Audi after my TTS incident. Basically a old peple car with more alerts and limitations than a nuclear device.
