Good job I checked..Suggest other SL owners do too
Discussion
I'm off to Le Mans and my car has been a bit lively in the rain at the rear, so I had the tyres checked out and the rear tread is a bit low. It has done 13,000 miles and there is about 1,000 miles left on the rear tyres. Pretty good considering the weight and power. BUT!!! a cursory glance at the (initially fine looking condition) fronts exposed the inner edge with the cords hanging out on both tyres. Cripes!
The car handles properly, never kerbed and the thing is stable at mega speeds, so no geometry issues obvious. There is a good 3 to 4 mm left on the centre of the tyre but the inner edges are completely rogered.
Imagine a 200 mph dash on the way to Rouen with tyres in that state. You can only see the wear on full lock. Suggest other owners who have the 19" AMG wheels with the (up till now excellent) Bridgestones check the front wear...
ABC at fault or just a standard SL65 feature?
At least they didn't blowout like the horrendous 20" Contis did on my 55, 3 TIMES.
