Can any member/owner of a SL facelift send me a photo of the location of the spare wheel/jack and tool tray
also in the kit there is a large aluminon type stud, what is that for?

looks like either something to do with the roof, or maybe some sort of locater stud.

Had a flat, and in a hurry I did not make a mental note how the tyre, Jack (almost useless by the way) and tool tray is stowed.
sounds stupid but its like a Chinese puzzle.

wheel is not full sized but emergency only type

Pretty sure there was never a 1999 Mercedes Benz 350SL. There was a 1971-1980 350SL?

If the 'aluminium stud' is what I think it is then it's a locator pin that will line up holes in the hub and wheel and keep the wheel in place whilst you fasten the remainder of the bolts.

As for the jack being useless, I wouldnt even trust the 'widowmaker' emergency jack in an emergency after one twisted and buckled on me in my old E-Class - managed to get the wheel bolts tightened up enough to release the pressure on the jack before it collapsed completely.

Thanks for the reply, I've come to the same conclusion on both items.
Still trying to workout the boot stuff locations.
