Hi There.

My pano roof in my 2013 C63 seems to be going very slowly suddenly in last few weeks.

As the service cannot be done until after things start improving, is this something I can lubricate myself.

This will be part of the next service by the way.

I just don’t want it to stop completely.

Any help appreciated.

Regards.

Dave.

My E class Merc estate 2007 had a habit of retracting when initiating the slide closure like fingers when were being trapped.
I squirted WD40 about the mechanism and all is good. Worked it a few times to be sure. That's probably all the dealer is going to do so DIY and save a fortune.

Thanks for reply, I have some anti friction spray so may try that tomorrow.
Think it may be where the rear of the roof moves back either side of the glass panel that is stationary, where there is two runners that slide along in the velvet channel. Probably not velvet but looks similar.

There's a particular grease that's used for lubricating on the additional on the service. It's a smooth paste type grease, but if you're going to grease it in the mean time have a look in the runners when you have the sunroof open as it's common for dirt, bits of leaves etc to be in there. Clean out whatever you can and just use a decent lubricant on them. Avoid the likes of WD-40, and other types of maintenance sprays.

This. The grease that Mercedes specify isn't commonly available, so if you use an alternative make sure it is colourless/white and very lightweight (i.e not too viscous).

I once used some standard brown grease and it didn't help the lubrication plus it looked a bit grotty. Was a bugger to get it cleaned out again.

Nice replies guys.

I think it just needs lubricating where roof slides back beside the rear fixed glass part, between the felt runners.

I’ve ordered some anti friction stuff just to spray in until it gets serviced next.

Cheers for replies.
