A class from the front, Audi from the rear, I'm not a fan of this sort of lazy 'photocopier' styling, (BMW are just as bad), take a small car then just add 20% to the shape for the next class up and repeat.
I'm starting to sound old now but there was a point where you could tell the various Merc classes apart from a reasonable distance, not any more

Agree.
You can push 'family look' too far, it used to be easy but I struggle with a most MBs now. Likewise, Land/Range Rover; I'm old enough to remember being able to identify them even in the dark just from side/headlight arrangements, now I have no idea which Land/Range Rover is following me even in the daylight.

You must be old. This was the 94 model line up. For the avoidance of doubt, the S class is nearest the camera.
The new E has a hint of the Rover 75 around the C pillar, which is no bad thing
Says, 'sound old' not am old
Yes they have been here before (as have plenty of other manufacturers) I just find it looks like lazy designing, yes have family similarity of design on your vehicles, but use something to set them apart too, even the last generation of daytime running lights was enough for me, 1 for the C, 2 for the E and 3 for the S (plus various other shapes for the CLS / A class)
Not seen one in the metal yet so I could change my mind, was thinking of moving my C207 on for the new (current until they facelift that too) Coupe, that's more for the interior design that the exterior look though
