M113 V8 possible to run on carbs?
Discussion
Hi all
looking at the M113 V8 engine for a swap into a classic, it's a compact engine and lightweight, apparently cheap as the electronics issues for swaps are so much more complex than likes of the LS engines.
As the car would be from the carb era and not subject to cats or emissions at MOT times, I was thinking megajolt and carbs, double row of bike carbs. There is no vct vct on this engine as far as I know so that simplifies things, have looked at aftermarket ecu' s but with drive by wire throttle and the rest of the electronics it's a headache.
Anyone know of any technical reasons it couldn't run on carbs?
Cheers
Robert

Are you talking about the supercharged engine? Assume not.
Do these have variable valve timing? If so speak to Dave Walker at Emerald...note that he hates carbs and bike carbs as much as me but he does work with them and really knows his stuff.
LS out of an old Lexus must be much cheaper all considered?

Would be the 5.4 version na, they are cheap to buy, engine on its own or donor car. The Lexus 3uz or late 1uz have vct so not simple for carbs, Chevy LS is expensive
The M113 ditched the vct so it’s good power and hopefully simple, light at 175kg dressed & compact, just checking there’s nothing that makes it non compatible with carbs before taking the plunge
