hello i am confused by the current stated output for the current e63s and specs

you see 604 bhp and 612 bhp stated as the output

you see some state they have the sports exhaust option but when you go on the website there is no option for sport exhaust ..

it is confusing

thanks

I think one of your figures is PS and one is BHP. 612PS is 604 BHP, so some are advertising with the PS figure and some with the BHP figure.

You will also see a difference between torque quoted in NM and in ft/lbs. Metric v Imperial.

In terms of the sports exhaust, it is likely a generic description for the AMG cars, relative to the rest of the range. I.e. all E63S have a “Sport” exhaust.

604 vs 612 - When I was looking into getting an E63s, and watching youtube/etc reviews I am sure 604bhp was the bph quoted on US reviews.

So just (probably wrongly) assumed 604BHP for US market and 612BHP elsewhere. smile

I don't care, mine definitely has 612bhp wink

Yeah, the quoted figures feel very conservative. Sports exhaust is standard, yes. Wonderful cars, loving ours.

It states 612hp on the official mercedes brochure.
the sports exhaust was a £1000 option on the ealy models up to 2018( i think) then they made them standard when they changed the steering wheel.
they seemed to have changed the steering wheel again with the new wheel having the round dials on like the new c63s.
so depending on what year e63s you buy some 2017/2018 dont have sports exhaust and the best way to tell would be if the centre console has a switch with the exhaust sign on that will light up red when on and green when off.
hope that helps.

I was at a track day at Mercedes Brooklands with mine last year and got talking to an Merc engineer there. He said that they rarely come out of the factory with less than 620bhp, and some had been on the dyno and clocked over 650!
