I have a 2014 C63 AMG C204 and had it serviced at a main dealer (I know!) last week.
As well as the standard B service, I had a gearbox oil and filter changed with mileage now 52000.
One thing I now notice, which I don't think was there before, is a momentary lag when moving off first thing when starting from cold.
The gear changes are very smooth and, once warm the lag does not appear to be there.
Before I go back to the dealer, does anyone have an opinion on what this could be?

It's normal. How long have you had the car, is it the first time it's been really cold?

I her what you say Steve but my previous two autos didn't have this momentary lag before taking up the drive.
It almost feels like there is a slipping in the torque converter and then everything is fine once warm
Incidentally, I bought the car about this time last year but this is the first really cold period since the summer.

Unless you mean you had two C63 cars before then you can't compare with other autos. It is normal and it's not great but it is what it is. They all do it.

NB: You don't have a torque converter, that was the pre-facelift. Your car has a multi-plate wet clutch and it does slip a bit if you get on the throttle too early after selecting drive.

The best way around it is to engage drive and then wait for it to start creeping before hitting the throttle. It feels like ages but results in a much better pull away and less clutch slip.

It seems to select drive fractionally faster in any mode other than Controlled Efficiency. This makes sense as C starts in 2nd whereas all other modes start in first, except when the car is stone cold and they start in 2nd until the gearbox gets a modicum of temperature.

Thanks for the advice Steve.
Never owned a C63 before so I suppose I can't compare like with like as I was unaware they had wet clutches as opposed to a TC which all my previous autos have had.

I'd just get on and enjoy the car, nothing to worry about.
