I have recently taken ownership of new A Series AMG line, 5 door with petrol engine.
I started to notice that the traffic assist sensor/camera was sometimes missing a road sign or sometimes giving an erroneous speed sign. Basically, it only half worked!
Took it back to the dealership who had a look and told me the software needed a complete reinstall.
Booked it in and a few hours later, dealer calls to say that didn't work, so it needs a new sensor. That comes from Germany.
Waited a few more days, sensor arrives and is fitted, picked the car up and still the same problems.
Am I expecting too much from this feature?

Works really well on our 2015 GL. Not sure if yours is the same system?

We only tend to get issues when the road sign is damaged, worn or partly obscured which tends to give incorrect speed limits.

Mine works really well as well. It has a database, which it overrides with signs so it doesn't miss temp or variable limits. The only times is seems to get confused is with signs, in side turns that are at angles under about 45 degrees.

Further to this story. After collecting the car from Mercedes dealer, I asked if we could try another 2019 A series. The rep took us out in his car and the Traffic Assist did the same thing.
On top of this, we had a older C Class as a temporary car, this one had TA and it worked perfectly, as one would expect it to operate.
It seems on the surface, that the TA camera is not talking to the SatNav. For example, I will drive down a 30mph road and come to a roundabout, turn left and the 30 sign just goes off on the screen. On the courtesy car, it stayed showing 30.
Anyway, I will be emailing Mercedes.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I pointed out the SatNav system on my c205 kept telling me to turn left on roundabouts I needed to turn right at. After eight visits to the dealer, Mercedes said they all do that and they didn't care.

They also left me on the North Orbital for 24 hours waiting for a tow truck when the car decided to throw a wobbly. They obviously didn't care then, either, leaving me with a hotel bill and a missing a day's worth of meetings.

You'll be glad you bought a reliable car. Just don't bank on it being a Mercedes!
