CLS500 2006 looking for advice for exhaust
Discussion
Hello all, I am a V8 fan and have had American V8s before. I am now buying a Mercedes CLS500 5lt V8 and wondered if anyone knows if there is a better exhaust system in the UK to make it sound more V8ish
Any help would be great although I admit to not doing my own maintenance and also, I am not rich.

You could buy some expensive exhaust worth 25% the value of your car or...Any help would be great although I admit to not doing my own maintenance and also, I am not rich.
Get your local exhaust fabricators to chop out the resonator and put in an X-pipe. If you want more volume after that you can look at putting in less-restrictive silencers. They are lovely sounding engines with a less-restrictive exhaust system but anything that makes it more muscular-sounding is also going to give you more drone on the motorway, which can get annoying if you are a high-mileage driver (and long road-trips are a real strong-point of the 500s).
If I were you, I'd get the CLS500 (they really are lovely), and see how you feel about the exhaust in a month.

Thanks for the advice, yes indeed I won't be spending any more money for a wee while so will see how it sounds when it arrives Get your local exhaust fabricators to chop out the resonator and put in an X-pipe. The CLS is lovely looking car
I had a 500 and after a few months I had the secondary cats and resonator taken out in favour of a x pipe which cost about £200 all in. I done the same thing on my 55 from a local place and that was £250. It really does give it a nice sound IMO and no droning noise on the long runs.
You'll love the cold start noise.

Great news and glad you like it. Personally, I think that shape is timeless.
They do like to consume certain things which I'm sure you'll find out at some stage when or if they fail but they are literally a Champagne car for lemonade money. Enjoy
Oh, and the obligatory pictures required.
