Currently have access to an A35 for a couple of weeks, it's very nice, having recently driven a RS Focus / 718 Boxster and various other 3 to 400 HP sports / hatch's they all seem to do the same sort of thing wrapped up in different technology, personally if I was going to choose one it would be the 45s, I just can't justify sitting in traffic commuting in something like this, guess I'll stick to the E coupe

As you are planning a trip to the detailers I am curious what preparation you allowed your Mercedes dealer to do on the car prior to pick up?
The photo looks very shiny so presumably they have used some products on it?
Normally I am reluctant to let dealers do anything to my new cars other than wash it(even then I am nervous), but this will be my first Mercedes so I am wondering if I should let them do their normal preparation...

Hi Ron240

I asked for no preperation as want minimum chance of scratchs or swirls (always going to be some from transportation so not going to kid myself), then a small drive around m25 to home before dropping the car across to Freshlayers of Chichester for a full internal / external Ceramic coating.

Whilst dropping the A45 off and seeing the exceptional standard of other customers cars that were in the process of being finished i'm totally buzzing to see how mine comes out....

They gave me a full run down of the process and i've opted for the 5 yr warranty package - so fingers crossed...

NB. Didnt ask for it but the guys have been keeping me updated via Instagram of the progress (Thought that was a super nice touch) so happy to share my experience with others if they want to follow on instagram

Yes a professional detail makes a world of difference to any car. People who don't know about these things would think there should be no need to have this done to a brand new car, but its actually the best time to do it.

I am a little confused though, because I assumed your photo shows your car at the Mercedes dealer on the day you picked it up on 26th January?
It looks super shiny like I would expect a car to look after it has been detailed, but you said no preparation was done by the dealer. confused

Hi Blackcup,

I'll ask the guys down at Freshlayers (Chichester),

I booked the car in with them for the full internal & external Ceramic Coat protection using the the "Waxisdead Ultimate product" which comes backed by a lifetime warranty.

Been driving around on the all sorts of roadsover the last 3 days so the car was covered in winter road grime.........followed the instructions as provided by freshlayers this afternoon.

Jet wash with water (nothing else) and the grime literally ran off the car.....paint work / windows / wheels look stunning again so well worth the cost in my humble opinion,

Thanks for that will look into it.
I’ve been seeing a few more get delivered now, one ordered 04/11/19 and will be delivered 13/04/20 which is some wait!
I ordered 27/11/19 so guess I’ll get mine end of April/beginning of May.

Costs all depends on the level you choose (3 levels).

I originaly went in for the 2nd level (Supreme - 5 yr warranty) external £650 / internal = £200 but after seeing a the level these guys went to on an Bentley in the shop having the "Ultimate" it was a non brainer and it comes with a life time warranty............................I enquired and they gave me a very good deal so the "ultimate" level it was....

Cant stress enough the high level of detail and the communication from the guys as works was carried out....

jdmave,
I am assuming that you actually own your car and its not just rented?
The reason I ask is because unless I owned my car I wouldn't consider spending at such a high level on detailing.
I have always owned all of my cars outright so don't mind spending a little on detailing, but even so I personally wouldn't spend more than say £400 on the exterior, and nothing at all on the interior apart from what I do myself. My interiors have always remained unmarked and like new....but then its only me that is in them.
I suppose its all relative though, because if I had the money to buy a supercar then £1000 on detailing would be very little. biggrin
