Mercedes Benz W204 C63 AMG
Discussion
At the risk of teaching the forum to suck eggs .... what a machine!!
I test drive a 2013 estate yesterday (completely standard car with no performance packs / LSD etc.) and came away seriously impressed.
I've owned a few tasty motors over the years and none of them have really lived up to the hype in my opinion (other than the E46 M3 which I really loved until it was written off).
But the C63 AMG actually surpassed my expectations...the engine and exhaust sound are obviously the party piece but wow were they impressive. Definitely my next motor and will complement my 987 Boxster nicely.
I can see why I've never really seen a bad word said about them (other than maybe the fuel economy).

I loved mine, but yes, the fuel economy felt like an issue.
Silly really, given the low miles I did, but the fact that a full tank would not take me from London to Newcastle used to annoy me.
The reason I sold in the end was that I rented a focus on holiday, had an absolute blast in it, and suddenly felt that the Mercedes was too nose-heavy when I got back into it at the airport.
I’ve just bought a new model with a “63” engine in it, but it definitely lacks something from the big NA engine.

You are indeed correct, It is a machine. I came from a TVR V8s which has a 4 litre engine which I sold only because i needed more than 2 seats so I bought a W204 C63 coupe. Noise factor equals every time I start it up and the acceleration is just immense.
My only regret, wished I bought a wagon or the E63.

Similar story for me. I owned a W204 C63 for a couple of years an regret selling that car most days. It was an amazing machine and made every drive special. One of the few cars I have ever missed along with my E46 M3. Looking at a W205 C63 now to replace a 911 GTS.I test drive a 2013 estate yesterday (completely standard car with no performance packs / LSD etc.) and came away seriously impressed.

Yep great car changed my 4 door saloon after 2 years to a low mileage 2013 coupe with LSD last year. Always impresses me, fuel economy not a great issue provided you have another car as a daily driver. Also used to have a V10 M5 for a few years back in the day and compared to that the economy is just fine :-)
Great car, owned a W204 C63 Estate and I still look for another one on occasions, sound was immense, and always love an estate. Currently in an E39 M5, so back in a V8, but manual, different driving experience...but miss having an estate, maybe get back in a C63 (6.2 one only) one day...
These cars are fantastic. Ive had my 2014 C63 Coupe since Aug 19 and it has surpassed all expectations. The noise it makes is phenomenal, the acceleration is outrageous, and to me this W204 version of the C63 has aged and will continue to age extremely well. I genuinely believe it is a nicer looking car than the W205 C63. Its muscle car characteristics continue to turn heads and attract so many comments. Its a car I pondered about buying for over a year, but took the plunge as soon as the ideal Approved Used one came up for sale. Not looked back since. Fuel economy is fairly poor - however there are so many other things that make up for this!
I love mine, I too have had an E46M3, B7 RS4, Toyota Supra with a T61 DBB Conversion, Now on the 63 and undergoing a wide arch conversion. I've also looked at the 2016 Mustang, Porsche 997 S, Jag XKR-S, none of these can really compare to the 63, but they are all very different cars and loved by many.
As for noise.... Well need we say anymore... Put the rear seats down and it sounds even better.. FILTHY!!
As for Fuel. I tend to refer to it as Smiles Per Gallon, its far more pleasing.. But then Nobody buys a 6.2V8 for fuel economy

Awesome cars.
I had Subarus for years, then switched to an e92 M3 when our first child was born, but whilst it was a phenomenal car I was frustrated by the lack of torque at lower revs which meant unless you were "on it" you often got caught out in some situations, and resorting to driving it balls out wasn't really an option when it was my daily!
Sold it and bought a brand new Mk3 Focus RS thinking it would be better but it was hands down the worst peformance car I'd ever owned and I sold it within 6 months and bought a C63 PPP. It was everything I wanted - it had the raw feel of a Subaru but with refinement in the cabin, practical sized boot, and the NOISE - everyone smiles when they ride in one of these.
I did get a little frustrated in the winter weather with my first one with it constantly lighting up the rears and ended up selling it and jumped into a mapped RS3. Biggest mistake I've made. I kept the Audi for nearly a year; during that time I fixed the horrendous squealing and under peforming brakes with a Reyland Motorsport 2 piece kit and some uprated pads, and changed the tyres from Pirelli to Michelin which went a huge way toward eliminating the understeer characteristic of the car. It was ballistically fast and enormously capable - you really could take corners at stupid speed, but yet it didn't feel like an occassion to drive no matter how much you pushed on - it just wasn't very involving.
12 months later I'm back in another C63 PPP and considering an LSD for it, but I plan to hold onto this one a fair while longer.
They are fantastic value now and a huge amount of car - not a lot comes close and as an all round package for the money as long as you can put up with the thirst for fuel - although that said, it's not considerably worse than the M car was!

always confusing what to choose... C63 W204 or the 4.0 biturbo W205
the newer you can easier tune, also lots of torque, but people miss the NA 6.2 and I only have seen many video's between those 2.
I also like the idea of the NA 6.2 and some special cars from that were also there, with a bit more power, over 500 and a bit more sporty look, like the edition 507 or DR 520 and some others, and of course the Black Series, but those are very costly, but only 700? made I believe and not really sure about those looks, the 507 looks better for that model.
The CLK black series does have those good looks, but also expensive and it seems the C63 BS is the better of those two, although better does not make it more involved of course.

I’m hoping to pick up a <2014 C63. From a personal perspective it flew under my radar when it was launched, but the styling and that engine really appeal to me now.
Even considering the high running costs, the used prices seem like an absolute bargain to me.
I’m looking for a tidy low mileage example, the estate was top of my list, but they’re typically well used. I’ve now switched my attention to the coupe, it’s got isofix so I’m hoping can back up the family wagon if needed - what could go wrong!

Owners, previous and current, don’t have a bad word to say which is always encouraging!
My next decision is to either spend £30k on a low mileage (20k) vanilla AMG or go for a higher mileage (50k) with the performance pack.
I’m a stickler for A1 condition and neither carbon or red callipers are my thing, so leaning towards the standard AMG with low miles. I’m sure 450bhp with 255s will be enough

Great thread.
I recently bought a C63 Edition 507 in Designo Magno platinum paint. Its a saloon and i can say its the best car i have had and i have had a few.
It has the factory AMG LSD with the factory AMG performance suspension and a whole host of other options.
If you can find a good one i highly recommend getting a 507.

Get some pictures up. Would love a 507, but unfortunately no way the mrs will let me splash another £20k. I recently bought a C63 Edition 507 in Designo Magno platinum paint. Its a saloon and i can say its the best car i have had and i have had a few.

I’m definitely going to invest in an LSD.
