W204 C63AMG - help!
Discussion
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I am currently eyeing up a very nice facelift saloon but am just wondering what I could expect to achieve miles per tank wise if driven steady on a motorway run?
I know these cars are not bought for economy, however as i aim to daily it (approx 280 miles a week) i was wondering if driven normally say on a 30 mile trip on the motorway (to work) would this be anything but completely ruinous?
Obviously when having some fun MPG is an after thought, but as i do not have an option of a second car, when driven easy what could i expect based on your experiences?
Buying the car / insurance / servicing / tax is not an issue - it's just the fuel usage which im unsure off. 23mpg + would be ideal when driven steady!
Thanks

You'll need super.
I'd say 23 should be achievable on that kind of journey.
I had a pre facelift PPP & before that a CLS63 (W219). Which despite being heavier and making more power - 514 vs 487 was more economical. Maybe gearbox/throttle calibration or just being so much more relaxed a drive I don't know.

thanks for your feedback - i will be looking for a late facelift model so hopefully mid 20's is possible!I'd say 23 should be achievable on that kind of journey.

The most I ever got was 30mpg that was a 300 mile drive up to the highlands cruise set a 75mph on m6/74 and 60mph once on the A9. The only time I ever thought it would run out of fuel as id planned a nice stop at Aviemore but when got there the garage was closed for building work and the next station was Tesco in Inverness! Just made Chorley to Inverness in one tank but was very much twitchy bum those last few miles!
When I changed jobs to one a couple of miles away through town it used to return 16mpg, worth it for the v8 rumbles per mile!
It’s also the only car I’ve had were the fuel light comes on about a quarter tank

I feel most owners like to exaggerate how poor the MPG somewhat. They're not that bad, especially on a motorway, for such a large engine.
I averaged 20 MPG from my facelift PPP but that was predominantly short journeys. It could nudge 30 MPG on the motorway.
Thanks for your input Mark, just a case of finding a nice example now as the one i had my eye on seems to have sold....I averaged 20 MPG from my facelift PPP but that was predominantly short journeys. It could nudge 30 MPG on the motorway.
For a steady run like that if you're behaving yourself 25+mpg is doable. I've had 30 out of mine when I tried hard one day on a long motorway run.
Then I remembered why I bought it - long term 19 mpg but it's a weekend hooner not a daily commuter. I have a sensible diesel for daily shuffling about in.

MPG is not going to be great which ever way you cut it.
Put in Shell V Power or Tesco Momentum, turn the key, sit back & enjoy the experience of owning one of these epic cars👍👍👍
So, either buy one or don’t.
But, if you do go ahead, you won’t regret it👍
I’m a cheap skate, but, love it every time I drive mine👌
