Mercedes Jupiter Red
Discussion
I have recently been interested in purchasing a new CLA 250 in Jupiter Red. This along with Polar White is a free colour, but i think it looks very nice in red and suits the car.
I have been keeping an eye on prices and waiting for the right deal to come along.....but am dismayed to find that Mercedes have this month discontinued Jupiter Red as a colour choice on the CLA and A class.
I wonder what the reason was for doing this.....surely it wasn't such an unpopular choice that hardly any cars were specified with it.
I find it strange that there is no red option at all for factory ordered CLA or A class cars now.
Unfortunately for me there seems to be very few pre built stock CLA 250 in any colour either, so that's not an option.
Colour is very important when buying a new car, so this could be enough to put me off buying this model completely.
Mercedes offer an increasing range of different and bewildering models....so surely its not too much to expect one of the most basic colours as an option!

A google search of Mercedes red paint may offer the answer
There was several issues of lacquar peel combined with not being a popular choice
Polar white is a safe colour that suits
I had a look and as far as I could find the problems seem to be limited to Mars red and Fire Opal red on cars built up until 2017.There was several issues of lacquar peel combined with not being a popular choice

Presumably the issue was resolved after that.....
White is ok, but on a Mercedes makes me think wedding car. Plus there are 4 other white cars from my neighbouring 3 houses.

Don't worry. No-one will ever mistake an A class for a wedding car Presumably the issue was resolved after that.....

You didn't properly read my first post. It's the brand new 2019 CLA that I'm interested in, which is the same as an A class at the front but totally different at the back. Its actually quite a long car.
Its been likened to a baby CLS.
have you spoke to a dealer and asked why he colour has been dropped?
My E63 is in Hyacinth Red and I love the fact it isn't black, white or grey. If they were 100% not reintroducing the colour, I suppose the only option is pick a safe colour like the blacks/greys/whites and just get it wrapped for £1500 instead.
Would you not consider the pre fact lift if it was in the Red... might get a better deal too. Although if your set on the facelift car I feel your frustration - buyers should push the boat out with colour choices when speccing up a car!

No I haven't asked, but in my experience dealers detailed knowledge of the cars they sell is often quite poor and sometimes just plain wrong, so I would not put much faith in anything I was told. It is frequently more reliable to find out things like this for yourself from the internet. Would you not consider the pre fact lift if it was in the Red.
While there are still new examples of the pre facelift CLA available, it is a different car entirely.
The facelift model has been completely redesigned inside and out and is far superior in every way. As soon as I seen the new model I thought this is a car I would like to own. Actually it was the CLA 35 that originally caught my eye and I would have been happy to buy it in Sun Yellow colour, until I found out the Premium spec model is a mere £130 above the threshold for the rip off additional tax rate.....which is something I just cant stomach at this stage!
So in short, no I would not consider a pre facelift CLA.
While on the subject of dealers.....I have visited 2 so far and had a bad experience with both.
First one went back on the original agreed price for the new car then offered an insultingly low trade in for my car......and the the second was downright insulting, telling me I was buying the wrong model and deriding my personal choice of buying cash and not using PCP. Basically everything he said he was right and I was wrong. He was the manager as well, and was very arrogant!

They would like you to use a PCP or finance the car so they can make commissions on this part of the sale, lots of people like PCP's as they can hand the car back and get another new one, to me I'd rather own it and take the hit on the depreciation rather than loose 100% of the money I've paid out if I don't keep the car (or have to fund X / Y or Z amount for chips / scratches / balloon payments)
Personal choice really, I walked away from 2 dealers who after being told that it was a cash purchase promptly sat me down and tried to supply finance and PCP quotes.
