I bought my 2013 C63 last year, booked it in for a service with Mercedes. It had done around 25k miles. They booked it in for an A service and gearbox oil change, the work was all completed and is showing up on the digital service book.

I'm trying to book it in again now, at 35k miles and MB seem convinced that it's due another A service and gearbox oil change. That doesn't sound right to me, as I thought the gearbox oil change only needed doing once and that the car would be due a B service now? Can anybody confirm if that's the case?

Does anyone know if it should be a B service now? Or another A and another gearbox oil change?

That doesn't sound right, does it. When you say "MB say it's due an A + g/box fluid", is MB your dealer 'service advisor' or whatever they're called, or the electronic system? Is the service schedule not laid out in the service booklet supplied with the car?

I've had 'discussions' with them when the dealer rep was adamant the car wasn't due g/box fluid (it was) and they were basically refusing to do it. They eventually did it.

Has the car had a number plate change at any time as sometimes that seems to throw their system out, particularly if the number's previously been on another MB.

I always had hassle with the ESS on my older MB - it gets messed up if mileage isn't typical for the age of the car.

You used to be able to access ESS online, but I looked the other day and it needed a dealer login. Check MyService, I think it links to the ESS - although likely the dealer is getting their information from ESS anyway.

The services should alternate A & B, although in practice their isn't a right lot of difference - I think pollen filter and key battery are the only physical differences. Assuming it's the same as other MBs then every 2yrs (so usually every B service there should also be a brake fluid change, and ATF is a one off.

Ah, thanks - I noticed the ESS was back the other day but couldn't remember where I'd mentioned it. It had some changes and it requires more information to be input than it used to so hopefully it'll give more accurate service information.

Wow!! I just looked up the servicing costs on my W204 C63 and main dealer charges for brake pad replacement make your eyes water.
Front pads only £450.00
Rear pads only £360.00
Not sure if this includes VAT either.
A tad expensive I think especially when you can buy replacement pads for around £70 a set (with some discount).
I suppose it must be the really expensive coffee they "give" you in these dealerships.

Those glass palaces don't pay for themselves.

If you can get the dealer to just do pads, rather than discs too, I'd be amazed.

My C63 is now due it’s next service, I’ve just phoned 4 Mercedes Dealerships for prices.

‘B’ service due, prices range from £431 to £700+

Pays to ring around.

Nearly £270 difference. How can this be...!!!!!

Dave.

Just to add, this would include 1 years breakdown also.
So, cheaper quite sounds pretty good to me.

What do people think.

I'd snap their arm off for that lower price. They differ so much due to their workload and desire to do this kind of work. Even the same dealers will fluctuate over time so while it's a bit odd it isn't unusual.

Check what's included. The B service itself is still a pretty basic service. Some of the dealers may be on the ball and have included additional work which ESS is telling them is due. Or they may just be very expensive!
